How to disable ‘split view’? I don’t see the value in this at all, I already have windows I can view things side by side and still be able to change the sizes as I please. This is such a nonesense thing to shove down our throats, like why? (and yes, replacing the position of “Open in new tab” for the split view to go in IS a very forceful way to implement it).
Let me turn it off or I’m gunna just switch browsers, so sick of tech forcing nonsense features to make it seem like they are doing something still.
Not a bad enough annoyance to switch browsers, at least not to me. And I did drop Opera when they “reinvented” it so I get what you’re saying.
But it is an annoyance. I understand it’s inherited from Chrome, but that doesn’t means the devs are powerless.
It’s getting so I dread each update, even if an annoyance is fixed. Because what new annoyance will be worse.
As it is I have disabled updating, and only update manually after reading the release notes. And only for major changes, not when it’s just upgraded Chromium.
I read this forum and the Reddit Brave forums before going forward.
This would probably get more attention in the Feedback Posts category since you’re looking to change an existing feature rather than requesting a brand-new one.
Also: you can usually find these settings in brave://flags (search for ‘Split View’) if you want to try disabling it manually while waiting for an official toggle.
All Chromium browsers have it, and there is no way to disable it. Edge, amongst others relocated Open in Split View to the bottom since Google removed the flag to disable it in Chromium. Brave after countless requests did just that, moved it to the bottom so you cannot possibly accidentally click it.
There’s simply no way to turn it on or off anymore due to Chromium removing that capability, so any Chromium based browser you chose is going to have Split View. Your only choice would be Firefox based at this point.
