Description of the issue: The site works fine until I click play on any protected content. When I go to brave components to update widevine it says status: update error. I have reinstalled brave as well and it still persists with adblockers off or on. I also am not using any vpns.
I didn’t check the box to delete all data because I have a lot of important bookmarks that I don’t want to add again. I followed the instructions and when doing the last step I get this.
All I can say is that it seems your components are being hidden under admin and can’t be accessed, meaning you have the issue where it works like you don’t have it at all. Until the permissions are fixed and you’re no longer trying to run it with admin permissions, you’ll encounter issues.
Doing a backup of data and doing the uninstall without retaining anything would purge the components with the wrong permissions. Then installing again fixes it. A lot of people have said this feels like the easier path.
@HungryMongol if bookmarks are the only bit you’re worried about, I would agree with @Saoiray and say you should just export your bookmarks from the browser then un/reinstall.
