So I seem to be unable to change accounts when I click on connect accounts for rewards. I never made an account and there is only a password option, is there any way for me to do something about this?
@Woods-May more details would be helpful. I have assumptions of what you’re referencing, but as exactly explained it does not make sense. Rewards has no password. If you choose to connect, then it would ask you to choose something like Uphold or Wallet. But you are acting like when you click Connect it’s automatically asking you for a password.
In addition, you speak of changing accounts. Is your Rewards already connected to something?
Which version of Brave are you using? Which version of Windows?
Please do respond with much greater detail so you can be given the best help.
Sorry for little detail, whenever I click on Brave Wallet, it will say “Select a Solana wallet to connect” So I click connect to Brave Wallet, and all it says is “Unlock Wallet”. My account isn’t connected to almost anything since I created it around 2 weeks ago. Im pretty sure im using the latest version of Brave. Not sure if this will help much
This means you or someone with your device created a Brave Wallet at some point. If you don’t remember doing it then you likely never sent any money to it either. Just reset it. You can do this by going to Settings → Web3 → Reset and clear wallet data
With that done, you can create a new Brave Wallet.
-NOTE-
If you are trying to link your Rewards to self custody, you will need to fund it with at least $1 worth of SOL on Solana. This means you will have to send it from another wallet or you will need to buy it. This is a Solana requirement and not from Brave, as they need Associated Token Account
Also should say if you’re not too familiar with cryptocurrency, you may find it better to connect to something like Uphold if it is available in your country. They make it easier to move it around and withdraw.
If you use the self custody through Solana, you have to make sure you have enough for transactions. Anything on Solana network requires SOL to pay for transaction fees, which can also be referred to as “gas fees.” So if you earned BAT and wanted to withdraw it or move it somewhere, SOL is needed to do that. With no SOL, it just sits there and can’t be used.
You’ll also then need to make sure you understand exchanges and how to withdraw, because it’s not going to be as simple as just telling it to pay to your bank account.
Where exactly would I find the settings? I’m not very familiar with Brave, sorry.
You can find it in the hamburger menu in the upper right corner of the browser. The hamburger menu is the three dots or three horizontal lines icon. It looks like ![]()
Once you click that, you will see a list of options, including Settings.
I want to clarify something so it does not come across the wrong way. This is not meant to be rude or dismissive, but I was a bit surprised by the comment about not being familiar with Brave as the reason for not finding Settings.
Most modern browsers have placed their settings in this same general location for well over a decade. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and others all use nearly the same layout. Because of that, clicking the menu icon and then selecting Settings is usually the correct first step, regardless of which browser you are using.
Because of this, the idea of not knowing where settings are because you’re unfamiliar with Brave sounds a bit strange. It is less about Brave specifically and more about how browser interfaces work in general. If you are less familiar with computers overall, that would make more sense, and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone starts somewhere.
Just to give some examples of how settings can be found in all browsers: (this is showing the hamburger menu extended, of which Settings is usually toward the bottom)
Chrome:
Edge
Comet
Firefox
Sorry, I didn’t know if it was different for Brave since I figured out I had to scroll down a little bit to find it, thanks for the help though!
