"Experiencing interruptions" only happening on certain videos?

So as you know, YouTube is still doing this “brilliant” artificial delay bullcrap, and there’s still no way to fix it, but I’ve also noticed that it only happens on certain videos, especially much older videos. Why is it that the “experiencing interruptions” only happens on certain videos, while other videos are just fine, even if they had this artificial delay before?

@Sbiernick

A creator can control some major playback conditions, particularly visibility, embedding, and (to an extent) geo-access, if they have rights-management access. But ultimate authority lies with YouTube’s back-end enforcement system - which can silently override anything the creator specifies, often without transparent disclosure.

In practice, YouTube retains final say over what will or won’t play, when, where, and for whom — a textbook case of digital gatekeeping through algorithmic opacity.

@Sbiernick just so you know, the “experiencing interruptions” has more of a two fold thing. The first is that YouTube itself is having issues. If you missed the news, YouTube actually went down last night and has had some problems.

The second is them doing anti-adblock. Sometimes if they detect uBlock Origin, Shields, or anything of the sort, they will intentionally do things like that to try to make our experience worse and to blame the adblockers. They want us viewing ads or paying them for the ad free experience. So this can be an occasional issue that rears its head in the whole fight to stop their ads.

The difference of why you see it more on some videos than others may be because of monetization. If it’s a channel or video that isn’t monetized, therefore has little to no ads, then you wouldn’t come across it as much.

Otherwise it may be based on the regional server where they have those videos stored. Not everything is all on the same servers with YouTube. They have millions of them worldwide. So traffic to one might be worse than to others.

God, YouTube sucks so much for doing this.

Yeah, people are getting it at different phases. I’m just seeing the temporary “experiencing interruptions” thing at the beginning of some videos, but then it all plays perfectly fine. But I am seeing others who are saying it’s cutting off videos in the middle or so.

Does yours seem to be more like mine, just at the start? Or what is your situation?

I personally have seen it flash pre-video. For me disabling auto-play on YouTube helps, but not the 10 second pause, but it helps prevent the error. It doesn’t seem to work for everyone though.

For me, it only happens at the beginning but works perfectly fine after that.

Yeah, so probably just part of the whole adblock thing that happens. Was occurring for me on other browsers and with various extensions as well. Just one of those temporary things. Hopefully we’ll see better improvements here shortly.

I hope so too! Youtube really shouldn’t have the right to punish us like this.

Legally, they can. It’s their service. On the flipside though, the FBI recommends adblocking.

To date this has yet to really be tested in court, but until then, we fight. :wink:

It’s why YouTube’s threat to be permanently banned from YouTube has yet to be solid.

So true! Screw Youtube, and screw their stupid rules!
