I have changed my Yahoo password yesterday. And since then unable to login into Yahoo. It’s similar but not identical to a couple of previous posts over here
In a Brave Browser New Window, go to, one-at-a-time:
brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fyahoo.combrave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fconsent.yahoo.combrave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Flogin.yahoo.combrave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.yahoo.com
and for each of those site details settings pages, click the Reset permissions button.
Next, go to: brave://settings/clearBrowserData. Select the Basic tab and set Time range to All time. Enable both settings: Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. Click the Delete data button.
Next, return to each of the four brave:// . . . site details settings pages, above, and for each, scroll down to JavaScript and set that to Allow. Close the settings page. Restart Brave Browser. Test issue.
Thanks so much for the very kind help. First time ever I’ve managed to follow all the instructions to the letter. Alas, still unable to sign in.
I am happy to have a paid subscription to either Yahoo or to Brave for one month to sort it out. Which one do you suggest?
Many thanks!!
I do not think, that you need “paid subscription to either Yahoo or to Brave”
Another member of the Brave Community, found an alternative webage for signing in to a different website (not Yahoo):
‘Trouble logging into HRBlock.com - #3 by preale’
Maybe you can find another Yahoo sign-in webpage? Wishful thinking, on my part.
Test Brave Browser “normal” | “regular” | “standard” window versus Brave Browser Private Window. (I have seen all three of those non-Private window names, in descriptions.)
Tips regarding Brave Shields:
I have more success, with:
- Brave Shields UP, but . . .
- Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
- Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
- Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
- Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
I almost NEVER use:
- All of Brave Shields UP
- All of Brave Shields DOWN
Shields Basics
How do I configure global and site-specific Shields settings?
How do I use Shields while browsing?
Extensions Tests:
- test by disabling all extensions
- test by enabling each extension individually
- test by uninstalling all extensions
- test by installing each extension individually
- test combinations of extensions
- test order of installation of extensions
Clearing cache, cookies, and history:
- Clear cache, cookies, history - for
Time range>All time, usingBasictab atbrave://settings/clearBrowserData - Exit / Quit everything
- Restart the computer
Create a new user Profile for Testing:
Create and use AN ADDITIONAL Brave Browser user Profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) - only ← meaning: Do not have any other Brave Browser user Profile tabs/windows open.
When creating this new Brave Browser user Profile for test purposes
- Do not import anything.
- Do not add any extensions.
- Do not allow/enable any Brave Browser “bells and whistles” such as Brave Rewards, Brave Talk, etc.
IF this test Brave Browser user Profile does not present your problem, then possibly, the profile that you have been using, has a problem . . . and that might be caused by one or more extensions, or too many tabs ← complex/conundrum.
Detailed info about testing - IF, in regard to memory and performance issues:
About “Stay signed in” and “Remember me” prompts, I suggest that you NOT enable those; example:
Another suggestion; in a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/shields and set the Forget me when I close this site switch to the alternate position. Exit / Quit everything and Restart. Then, return to the setting and flip that switch again. The general idea being, to “bang on” or “rattle” the switches, in order to clear away some dust, in a manner of speaking.
IF you create a new Brave Browser user Profile for Testing, and you still have trouble signing in at Yahoo, then you might not correctly recall your password, or there is some other password credential problem?
ARE you able to sign in, using another browser? (I probably should have asked, from the start; duh!)
BTW, you need to edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, in order to include - there - your:
- Brave Browser version numbers
- Operating System version numbers
This was causing me a massive headache for a while to the point where I almost fully switched back to Chrome but I have found a solution which was very simple.
- On the Yahoo login page, click the small Brave icon (Brave Shield) on the far right of the URL bar and to the left of the Brave VPN (Triangle icon).
- You will see Brave Shields open, it will say “Shields are UP for this site” all you have to do is disable it for Yahoo and everything should work fine.
I’m sure there is something more specific about the Shield that’s breaking the login page but I am not going to look for it.
