This problem only began today and it did happen after a Windws 10 update (have not tried to go back to pre-update b.c I don’t know how)
- there is a full history of what I did below this picture - scroll past it.

Below is a chat I had with Yahoo AI -

can’t open yahoo on brave browser even with all extensions disabled
-
Thanks for letting me know that you’ve already disabled all extensions in the Brave browser but are still unable to open Yahoo. Third-party browser enhancements can sometimes cause issues with Yahoo products, but since you’ve already tried disabling extensions, we may need to look at other possible causes.
Could you please let me know what exactly happens when you try to open Yahoo in Brave? For example, do you see an error message, a blank page, or does the site not load at all? Also, have you tried accessing Yahoo in a different browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) to see if the issue is specific to Brave? This information will help narrow down the cause and suggest the best next steps.
-
It says “Something went wrong. We could not sign you in. Try again form a different device.”
-
Thank you for sharing the exact error message. Since you’ve already disabled all browser extensions and are still seeing “Something went wrong. We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device,” this suggests the issue may not be related to browser extensions or add-ons.
The knowledge base articles recommend disabling extensions as a common troubleshooting step, but since you’ve already done that, let’s try to narrow down the cause further. Could you let me know if you are able to sign in to Yahoo on a different browser (such as Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) or on a different device? This will help determine if the issue is specific to the Brave browser or if it might be related to your Yahoo account or network.
Additionally, have you recently made any changes to your Brave browser settings, cleared your cache/cookies, or updated the browser? Let me know so I can provide the most helpful next steps.
-
Brave - did clear cache/cookies and shields. Brave is up to date.
Can open yahoo on Firefox and Edge -
Thank you for providing more details. Since you can access Yahoo on Firefox and Edge but not on Brave, and you’ve already cleared cache/cookies, disabled shields, and ensured Brave is up to date, this suggests the issue is specific to the Brave browser.
The knowledge base articles mainly recommend disabling or removing browser extensions as a common troubleshooting step, which you’ve already done. Since the issue persists, it may be related to a setting or feature unique to Brave that’s interfering with Yahoo’s sign-in process.
Could you please let me know if you have any privacy or security features enabled in Brave (such as aggressive blocking, fingerprinting protection, or strict cookie settings) that might affect website logins? Also, are you using a VPN or proxy with Brave? This information will help narrow down what might be causing the sign-in issue.
-
No VPN. Even on Private Window yahoo will not open in Brave (so no strict privacy/security except for what is on Brave itself - as a private window).
-
Thank you for sharing more details about your troubleshooting steps with Brave. The knowledge base articles recommend disabling or removing browser extensions and add-ons if Yahoo isn’t working correctly, and you’ve already done this, along with clearing cache/cookies and checking privacy settings. Since Yahoo works in other browsers but not in Brave, and even Private Windows don’t resolve the issue, this points to something specific within Brave that is interfering with Yahoo’s sign-in process.
The articles suggest that if your browser isn’t listed or if standard steps don’t resolve the problem, you should check your browser’s support website for more information on how to manage settings that might affect website functionality. Here are links to help pages for managing extensions and settings in popular browsers, but since you’re using Brave, you may want to visit Brave’s own support resources for further troubleshooting.
Could you please let me know if you have any custom privacy or security settings in Brave, such as blocking third-party cookies or enabling fingerprinting protection, that might not be present in other browsers? Additionally, have you tried resetting Brave’s settings to default to see if that resolves the issue? This information will help further narrow down what might be causing the sign-in problem with Yahoo specifically in Brave.
-
No custom privacy. I reset Brave to default. Still can’t log in.
-
Thank you for letting me know that you’ve reset Brave to default settings, cleared cache/cookies, disabled extensions, and still can’t log in to Yahoo—while other browsers work fine. According to the knowledge base, the main recommended steps are to disable or remove browser extensions and check your browser’s support resources for any settings that might interfere with Yahoo. Since you’ve already completed these steps and the issue persists only in Brave, it appears to be a compatibility or settings issue specific to that browser.
The knowledge base suggests checking your browser’s own support site for further troubleshooting if standard steps don’t resolve the problem. You may want to visit Brave’s support resources to see if there are any known issues with Yahoo or additional settings that could affect sign-in.
Could you let me know if you have any security software or system-wide privacy tools installed (outside of Brave) that might affect how Brave connects to Yahoo? Also, are you able to access other websites that require logins in Brave, or is the issue only with Yahoo? This will help determine if the problem is unique to Yahoo or a broader issue with Brave’s handling of logins.

yes, Bitdefender and Windows Security

Help articles don’t address this issue. Other suggestions?
-
I understand this has been frustrating, especially since you’ve already tried all the standard troubleshooting steps like clearing cache/cookies, disabling extensions, resetting Brave, and confirming you can access Yahoo in other browsers.
Based on the available help articles, the main recommended steps for browser-related Yahoo issues are:
-
Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
-
Update your browser to the latest version.
-
Restart your computer.
-
Make sure JavaScript is enabled.
-
Disable browser enhancements/extensions.
-
Temporarily disable antivirus, antispyware, and firewall products.
-
Try accessing Yahoo from another computer or mobile device.
-
Reset your browser to default settings.
Since you’ve already done ALL of these steps and Yahoo works in other browsers, the issue does appear to be specific to Brave. One additional step from the help articles is to temporarily disable your antivirus and firewall software (like Bitdefender and Windows Security) to see if they might be interfering with Brave’s connection to Yahoo. You can find more details in this article: Fix problems when a Yahoo website isn’t working.
Would you be able to temporarily turn off Bitdefender and Windows Security, then try signing into Yahoo in Brave again? If Yahoo works with those security tools disabled, it may be necessary to adjust their settings to allow Brave to connect to Yahoo.
If you’ve already tried this or if the issue persists even with security software disabled, could you let me know if you see any specific error codes or messages (besides “Something went wrong”)? Also, are you able to sign in to other sites that require logins in Brave, or is the problem only with Yahoo? This information will help further narrow down the cause.

Yes I did all the steps youfirst listed. Every one.
You are certainly not the only one to have issues with logging into Yahoo! as seen in this search:
https://community.brave.app/search?q=Yahoo%20login%20order%3Alatest
I’m not sure if I missed it or not (I skimmed your chat) but…
Have you tried testing things in a NEW Profile?
(Brave Settings > More Tools > New Profile or Guest Profile)
(Yes/No?):
AND/OR
Have you tried testing things in a different version of Brave? (e.g. Nightly, Beta)
Nightly: https://brave.com/download-nightly/
Beta: https://brave.com/download-beta/
(Yes/No? If so which or all?):
Hi there,
Thanks so much for your reply! I do see that others are having the same and similar issues to me.
I have not tried a new profile b.c I need to research how to safely transition - don’t want to lose my old one w. bookmarks, etc.
I will go ahead and try nightly and/or beta to see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestions! Appreciate you taking the time.
will report back ina couplke of days.
Thanks for your reply HeathM. I have been on yahoo since 2000, so not really fesasible to change over - I have sever other email accounts, but my yahoo is well established for what I need. And Yahoo worked flawlessly in Brave until 2 days ago. It was after a Windows 10 update, but I don’t know that had anything to do with it. Yahoo works on numerous other browsers, just not Brave.
