Cannot sign in to Yahoo while using Brave

When I try to sign in Yahoo mail, the login page just hangs and stuck on loading. I tried reloading the page, restarting the browser, and turning off Shields, but nothing helped. It works normally in other browsers, so it seems specific to Brave.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hi, Welcome to the Community!

Yup, Yahoo! has been a problem with Brave,
as seen in this advanced search here:
https://community.brave.app/search?q=yahoo%20login%20order%3Alatest
So you are not alone…

@Mattches, I’ve checked GitHub for Yahoo! (Here) and I’m not seeing anything specifically for resolving this Yahoo! Login issue and I haven’t seen you comment on some of the others posts as per the Advanced Search above, if you wouldn’t mind looking into it or giving a word of advice? It seems quite wide spread :man_shrugging:

In the mean time @matapang, I would encourage you to share more info, e.g. the template below that would have populated had you categorized your post under Browser Support > Web Compatibility

EDIT: Since posting this message earlier I’ve been given a ā€œpromotionā€ with some special privileges so I have switched the category as I mentioned above already for you

But you can also use the edit feature, clicking the pencil icon at the bottom of your post and changing the category / adding tags and copy and pasting the below template (don’t use the ā€œQuoteā€ feature) to then update and provide more information…

I had no issues here, in both general signin and signin into mail. Not a yahoo user myself, but have a login for testing.

As usual, I’m a bit late to the party.

Utterly missing in the OP’s report: any / all details requested in Brave’s ā€˜trouble-shooting template’ — which makes it difficult to … trouble-shoot.

I’ve been using Yahoo! Mail (as well as other email services) for about 25 years. I mention this because complaints about Yahoo! services in general and Yahoo! Mail specifically aren’t new. Suggestions to use a different email service don’t recognize that email is amongst the ā€˜stickiest’ applications many of us use.

With two linux installations (Debian on both a desktop and a laptop) / using both Brave and Firefox (ā€œChromeā€ isn’t installed): I’ve found logging into Yahoo! (both mail and other Yahoo! services) has become noticeably slower over the past few months, but ā€œslowerā€ DOESN’T mean I can’t log in. I can. I do. It just requires more time. This behavior is browser-agnostic.

Adding (to perhaps help trouble-shooting): using Brave, ā€œShieldsā€ are up; and on both browsers, I’ve installed a password manager (Bitwarden), Malwarebytes, NoScript, and uBlock Origin. Re: the latter two add-ons/extensions, it’s possible to transfer ā€˜filters’ and ā€˜rules’ between instances — and I do. Which is to say: while Brave and Firefox are distinctly different browsers, 3rd-party software that could impede access to Yahoo! is present on both browsers and configured similarly. It’s linux: no 3rd party system-wide ā€˜security’ application. For me: no problem with Yahoo! other than speed — or rather — sloth.

Repeating: complaints about Yahoo! services (mail and other Yahoo! stuff) aren’t new. For better or worse, the problems seem to be operating-system- and browser-agnostic. More information is required to help trouble-shoot.
