Device: Android
Brave version: Latest official
Detailed description of the behavior: On August 2 2025, I received email that a charge for “Brave Firewall + VPN (once per year) (Brave Private Web Browser)” has been taken from my bank account.
I signed up for the free trial but I forgot to cancel it before the trial ended. Unfortunately, it was charged just at the moment when I was buying grocery for my daughters birthday, thus I had to ask money from friends for that.
I then asked charge-back from Google Play on the same day. Now I received the email from Google that this purchase was not done according to their policy, thus my charge-back was declined.
I do not wish to use the aforementioned purchase. I am happy with the free version of Brave Browser and I do not need Brave VPN anymore as my holiday in foreign country ends soon.
Thus, can you please cancel my subscription of the aforementioned on your end and withdraw me the 109.99€ for the yearly package.
What information must I submit?
Seems I cannot submit the ticket at “support brave app com” because I do not have Premium Account Invoice number if the order was made through Google Play.
@Bushido1 Just go ahead and submit the ticket like it says. You can use the example invoice number they provide. On the Premium Support Ticket page at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360003078831, they show an example like 01234567-8910
. Just enter that so the form will go through.
As a user not employed by Brave, and just an outside observer, I wanted to note the following:
The subscription terms were clearly presented when you signed up. You agreed to the charge, including the exact date and amount, and in most places that makes it legally binding. Businesses generally are not required to issue a refund if the terms were clear and you did not cancel in time.
To be honest, this kind of situation has been abused by a lot of people. Some intentionally wait out the trial or try to sign up again, use the paid features, then claim they forgot to cancel or signed up by mistake just to get more time without paying. It is taking advantage of how the system works in order to get more than what the free trial offers. That kind of behavior is probably one reason why Google has become less willing to approve refund requests. It ends up costing Brave and the payment processors money each time this happens.
Brave has still been generous in handling cases like this, even though they are not required to. But if that generosity keeps getting taken advantage of, there is no guarantee it will continue.
@Saoiray Brave ended up withdrawing me the sum back to my bank account within 4 days.

@Bushido1 yeah, like I said, they have been generous in handling cases. If you want to know why I said what I did extra from my personal note though, it would be because of the below. I have seen all of these posts made lately.
In dealing with some of this, I’ve had talks with people who admitted they used the free trial and thought they were going to game the system into getting an extra trial. But it’s one trial per account. When they rushed through and didn’t pay attention to what it said, they thought they were signing up for another trial but it clearly said they would be charged. This has been fairly common in talking to people, though there have been other situations of people sharing the device with someone else who signed up and didn’t tell them. Or times of people just sincerely forgetting to cancel.
It’s just sad because it’s not a bug or error, it’s just people not paying attention or simply trying to “game the system.”
In my case, I didn’t cheat; it was actually my mistake. I’ve already received a refund. Cheers, friend
