I think the last few replies got a bit sidetracked.
What actually matters here is that contextual (right-click) menus used to be different. For a long time, Open was the first/default option in many places, and that was later removed/changed in several apps and OS versions.
But honestly… at this point, who cares about re-litigating every historical UI change?
Something changed recently → a bunch of people don’t like it → the team is aware and looking into it. That’s the situation.
Arguing over whose memory of 2000–2026 menus is more accurate or how “important” the complaint is just turns into pointless noise. Let’s wait and see what (if anything) gets adjusted instead of sniping at each other. We’re all just users who noticed something shifted and aren’t thrilled about it.
That’s it. No need to make it a bigger fight than it already is.
Hey guys, my reason for starting this topic was simply to find out if Brave could remedy this issue, or maybe even do something like Edge did with it, since the placement of it is my biggest beef about it.
I’m not about to change browsers since Brave does everything I want when it comes to browsers, so I’ve been using it pretty much ever sense it first came out…
I have used Windows based computers since 1995, so I do tend to get set in my ways, and hate changes, but I know those changes are inevitable, so I have to find work arounds to sort of compensate for some of those changes, and if this issue is here to stay, then the keyboard shortcuts Saoiray gave is what I will use now.
It’s just that “This doesn’t personally bug meeeee, so it’s completely out of line for anyone else in the world to take issue with it!” thing.
This UI “feature” shuffled the right-click menu that, as you’ve rightly pointed out, has about a quarter of a century’s worth of muscle memory behind it. That sucks. It would be very nice to know one way or another whether this is something that’s going to be fixed, and if so, what the timeline would be.
