Requested Feature
An option to automatically expand and collapse Tab Groups inside the Desktop Vertical Tabs sidebar simply by hovering the mouse cursor over the group title, matching the dynamic hover behavior of the sidebar itself.
The Case for Why This Should Be Seriously Considered
1. Eliminating UI Inconsistency and Friction
Currently, Brave’s Vertical Tabs sidebar offers a beautiful, fluid experience where the entire panel expands and collapses smoothly on mouse hover. However, the Tab Groups inside that very sidebar remain completely static, forcing users to click every single time to see or hide their grouped tabs. This creates a jarring UX mismatch—the sidebar responds to hovers, but the groups don’t. Enabling hover-to-expand for groups will bring complete consistency to the vertical layout.
2. Drastically Reducing Click Fatigue for Power Users
For power users who heavily rely on Tab Groups for separating research topics or daily workflows, the constant need to precisely aim and click on tiny group labels to toggle them open and shut adds massive friction. It turns a quick glance into a multi-click chore. Implementing a subtle hover delay (e.g., 200–300ms) to expand groups would drastically reduce click fatigue and save hours of accumulated travel time for the mouse.
