Background play no longer working

Hello everybody. I was just wanting to see if anybody else was having an issue with background play for videos and any kind of media no longer working after the latest update? Previously I was able to watch YouTube videos in the background on my phone, and also while the screen was turned off. I’ve checked the settings and I have the background Play option turned on. I’ve tried to turn it off and then turn it back on with no luck. If anybody else has experienced this and has a solution for it please advise, otherwise hopefully they are aware of this issue.

Only just noticed this today. Please, please restore background play Brave devs! Apart from that one issue I’m loving the browser. Cheers

Has anyone else experienced this coinciding with ads showing up? The ads don’t even play but the video stops and you have to skip them. Not all the time, just randomly, but it started at the same time the background play issue started.

I’ve discovered if background play stops I have to turn it off and back on again. I’ve had to do this twice. Seems to be a workaround until issue is solved.

I haven’t come across that issue myself yet, and I hope I don’t that sounds extremely annoying. I think I saw somebody else comment about that somewhere else. Hopefully they fix that as well.

For now, the quickest fix I’ve found is to switch back and forth between desktop and mobile view. Just do that on any tab you want to keep running like before. Hope this helps—best to everyone!

Also found that going into settings-media and disabling then Reenabling background play fixed it

Yes this is the solution for now. I discovered that on another thread a few days ago. Hopefully it gets fixed quickly.

Force-closing and re-launching the browser works most quickly for me. It brings me right back to the YT video, and I merely need to tap it to unmute. Cheers!
