Description of the issue:YouTube refusing to play “free with ads” movies in brave, forces users to go to the YouTube app so they can make you watch ads

How can this issue be reproduced?

1. Go to YouTube.com

2. Find any “free with ads” movie

3. Try to watch it

Expected result: movie plays

Brave Version( check About Brave): movie doesn’t play, receives an error message directing users to the YouTube app

Mobile Device details: iPhone 12pro, iOS 18.6

@BlackieFlawless666 I just was testing and I found that if you choose Request Desktop Site then it works.

I tried with youtube.com##+js(brave-fix) but no difference.

oh, actually I should’ve looked deeper. The same problem for that video does occur on Safari and Chrome.

So this may not be a compatibility issue so much as it’s just changes made by YouTube.

I believe @Saoiray is correct here – seeing the same behavior testing on my iPad. Will ask iOS team to confirm.

@BlackieFlawless666 can you confirm that viewing the desktop version of the site on your iOS device allows the movie to play?

for future reference, when using youtube on mobile always use “desktop” version or youtube will send the gestapo out and cause issues with mobile.
