Hi, Welcome to the Community!

I’m not really sure what you are asking here…

Are you ASKING FOR SUPPORT and still have an issue, hence categorizing this under: Browser Support

OR

Are you just PROVIDING FEEDBACK for something really weird that should be fixed? (which is also totally understandable).
If THAT’S the case I might suggest you edit your original post by clicking the pencil icon at the bottom of it to edit it and change your category to Feedback > Browser Feedback

I don’t mean to criticize it’s easy to get categorized mixed up, it just seems like you have a problem AND solution so I’m not entirely sure what you want from what you’re saying.

Double-check permissions; at the following link, find “I would highly recommend checking permissions . . .”:

Brave doesn't start when I run it as administrator and Brave Shield doesn't work - #41 by clifton

Take a look at:

To anyone that lands in this thread : I found the problem ! There is actually a setting when you belong to a microsoft family that is checked by default and that doesn’t allow you to open ANY other browser than Edge. https://account.microsoft.com/family/settings/content-restrictions/ Here, if you look it up on the “family parent” microsoft account, you can uncheck it and then you need to restart your computer and you’ll be able to open another browser.

I found that info, by reading the following . . .

. . . re Chrome users (and Firefox users) with same issue:

https://old.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/1llq89b/why_do_i_need_to_rename_chromeexe_to_get_it_to/

Are you downloading/installing the browser from our website or through the Windows store? Further, where exactly is the browser and user profile being installed?

Did not solve the problem unfortunately.

Just did a fresh install. Downloaded it from Brave website. Did not work same issue. Installed on main C drive.

However, installing from the windows store seems to have worked. Odd.

That may again be, a necessity (now) for a relation to the Windows OS user’s Microsoft account: https://account.microsoft.com ?
