Unable to sign in on X

Can’t login to X.

  1. Go to x.com

  2. Enter username or email

  3. Press sign in

  4. Username/email field is cleared and you remain on the same page.

  5. Enter username again and press sign in and then same thing happens, the field is cleared and wont go to the password page. There is no way to enter your password.

Expected result:

To be able to enter password and then after that ultimately login to X (Twitter).

Brave 1.89.135, Chromium 147.0.7727.49

Android

Samsung Ultra

Additional Information:

I’ve never had this problem in Brave, always been able to login without any issue. I can login fine in another browser (FireFox). In Brave I’ve tried private tabs (that’s what I always use) and when that didn’t work I tried a regular tab and the same outcome occured.

I’ve also not changed any settings since I was previously logged in. It has been a little while as I don’t often use X but it was working when I did.

First happened to me last night. Thought it was maybe a one off thing. Did the typical clearing of cache, deleted browser history/cookies, site settings, restarted device, tried again, no luck. Used another browser to sign in. Tonight I went to try again in Brave and the same thing happened.

No clue as to why.

Use Brave Browser Developer Tools > Network [tab] window to monitor the browser requests and servers responses … while you test Brave Site-Specific Shields settings.

On Android devices, you can access developer tools by visiting the “Settings” section under the “Three-Dot Menu” and selecting “Show Advanced Settings.” From there, toggle on “Enable Developer Options” to reveal the “Developer Tools” entry.

For example, you might test the following Brave Site-Specific Shields settings positions - the WebGL switch in particular:

Probably easier to study “How to …”, using a desktop computer.

If you have questions about what you see, ask an AI service.

So go and enable developer options (not a developer but I’m familiar with a few things) what is that going to do for me though? I see that they are trying to track their users (we already know this) then go through and start slowly disabling things one at a time so the protection that the browser provides (which is the main reason that I choose to use the browser) are no longer being used and then if I figure out which particular setting it is that is preventing the login and that’s probably after I’ve gone through them all one at a time and if it’s a combination that needs to be disabled, well then I should just go ahead and disable the shields completely. If that is the only solution, I definitely have my answer. Never use X again. Disabling privacy and security features to be able to access something should never be the go to answer in my opinion. It has been since privacy tools were first a thing. If I was making websites, I know what I would be doing so users would disable all their protections (for the users benefit and to improve the website of course, and security, yeah, security and mainly because my site will keep your data safe but I need your data to do all that )

Appreciate the response. I didn’t know there was an advanced menu in the android version. I will definitely have to check that out. I did notice a few new things kicking around, like the shred feature, very handy. It is always a good thing to be able to do more on mobile and have features that are just like on desktop. So developer options is a nice step in the right direction. Do any other browsers even have that option? I sure as hell haven’t ever seen it. Then again, there are only never few things that I ever really need to use it for but it definitely helps for analyzing, especially more so with creating customized block rules. Damn that can be a bitch having to work that s*** out. I usually go to FireFox and use ublock and then come back into Brave and then add the rule. Anyways. Thanks again for the insight.

Internet browsers tend to include Developer Tools. I can even cable-connect my iPhone to a Mac and use the Mac’s Safari DevTools in order to examine what Brave Browser (iOS) is doing on the iPhone.

After looking I can’t find the advanced settings on android for the brave browser. I thought it was odd that I’ve never seen it before.

Remote debug Android devices
https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/remote-debugging/

You could use Chrome or Brave Browser on your computer ← that you have the Android device connected to via USB cable.

In the instructions, where you see chrome://inspect#devices you can, using Brave Browser on the computer, use brave://inspect/#devices.

… probably.
