This primitive browser needs some serious customization

I m only forced to use Brave because Opera and Vivaldi are just legal Virus programs lately and because Edge… well…. is Edge.

But I am kind of baffled on how primitive and dated the Brave Browser is. Customization is basically nonexistent. In Fact it is the browser that has THE LEAST customization available and that includes all existing possible browser addons.

Brave is in dire need of some update that allows us to:

  • remove the “X” in tabs. accidently tab closing is a thing. at least for devs who are not only using their phones (I guess.)
  • mousewheel tab scrolling (scroll up, go tab left, scroll down, go tab right)
  • customize where new tabs are opened (BRave currently does what it wants with almost no coherent logic behind

Basically I can only suggest the devs of this to download vivaldi and basically implement everything that is custimization based. Vivaldi might be a virus, but it is way more functional than Brave. In fact, Brave is an insult to the modern internet.
It works, yeah, but it is so annoying to use.

And yes, I am frustrated by the fact that there is no good working browser in 2025.
The gate to the internet, all of them utter disgusting crap.

Sad

I totally get where you’re coming from. There are hundreds of browsers out there, and each one focuses on different things. Some, like Vivaldi or Firefox, are all about customization and giving you control over every detail, while others, like Chrome or Edge, focus more on simplicity and performance.

Brave, on the other hand, puts most of its effort into privacy, security, and speed. That’s why it includes features like ad and tracker blocking, a built-in VPN, Rewards, AI, and even its own search engine.

It’s not really meant to be the most customizable browser, but rather one that’s fast and private by default. Still, I agree — having more customization options would definitely make it better.

What browsers do this? I’ve not seen it on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or any others I’ve tested. It could be some setting I didn’t dive deep enough into, so curious if you actually have seen it?

In which way? Like for when you have a bunch of open tabs or are you mentioning to switch between tabs? Because there’s the basic Chromium Tab Scrolling that you can enable in brave://flags if you want the “overflow” scrolling between all your tabs.

What are you referencing here? Because there’s a very plain logic about where new tabs are open. It’s always to the right. So whatever tab you’re on, you say to open in a new tab and it opens just one tab over. Then from there it will continue going to the right of that last opened tab.
