Recently started using Brave, lots of things to like, but I really do with there were some more visual customization options. Sometimes even simple things like the forward/back and refresh buttons just flow better in Chrome and Edge, I’m used to the bookmark bar being on the right so I instinctively go there for it. I wish we could customer our tab styles a little, square, rounded corners, wavelike like what Chromes been doing, and Edge is trying to do. Depending how things are coded these addons could be very simple or very difficult, but I’d really love to see a few more options, or maybe even the ability to add our own graphics if they are static, and you guys want to go that far with it. Obviously super low priority, but I think you’ll pull more people if they feel more familiar coming over from things they are more used to using.
To sum it up, I’d like to see a little more customization of layout in the address bar area, as well as the ability to have some different styles to choose for buttons, it’s a small update that will go a really long way.
I just looked at both Chrome and Edge, and I’m a bit confused because I don’t see the features you’re describing. I couldn’t find any built-in settings to change tab styles to ‘wavelike’ or other shapes in either browser.
Regarding the bookmarks, I initially thought you meant the bookmark bar, but it sounds like you’re actually referring to the add to bookmarks button. In Brave, that button is on the left side of the address bar, whereas it’s on the right in Chrome and Edge. That is just their preference but I get where you’re coming from when asking to be able to move it around.
I’m also curious what you mean by adding your own graphics. Are you referring to the homepage background, or do you mean something specifically for the tabs?
Keep in mind that since Brave is Chromium-based, you can already use custom themes from the Chrome Web Store to change the visual look of the browser
Those options don’t exist in Chrome or Edge, what I meant was I like how the tabs look better in Chrome, like how they flow, although initially coming from Internet Explorer originally eons ago, that took some getting used to. What I was gearing toward is I just like the looks of the icons for the back and forward arrows, and refresh better in Chrome, and IE, like the actual arrows vs the < > icons, and the spacing since we have plenty of space. That was just an example really.
The features I was hoping for was something added to customization, that allowed us to choose from a few different arrows or refresh icons, and the ability to maybe import our own graphics as a possible option, personally just having some more options for icons would be enough for me, the other part was just an idea to expand on it. In general in all browsers I’d like to have some more customization with our address bars and icon placements etc, I always advocate for a little user customization freedom within reason, but also understand moving things around can be confusing when explaining things to some users.
So in short a couple whipped up icons, and an added menu under customization to choose between some options is mainly what I was hoping for in a future build =).
