Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?

1.I had a problem and needed to uninstall and then reinstall my browser. After it was installed there is now the word Error next to the “hamburger bun” 3 lines at the end of the right side of the top of the page.

What does that mean and how do I get it resolved?

I am currently running - Brave 1.80.125 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Chromium: 138.0.7204.184

Thank You So Very Much

Umm, did you not click to see what it shows?

Just a FYI, typically it’s something shown for when you have an extension that is trying to add itself. If you clicked it would have given you the exact message, such as what extension failed to update or whatever.

If you uninstalled and didn’t clear data, you likely retained folders. On top of that, some programs/apps on devices sometimes try to force extensions. For example, Adobe has been known to try to add their PDF extension automatically every time a new profile is made on all Chromium browsers unless/until someone knows how to find and delete the registry entry for it.

Click to see the error. If it’s extension then you just decide if you want to remove it, allow it, or what? If it’s something else, just react at that time. Like if it is an update error for the browser then you check for updates and/or manually update it yourself.

Key thing is identifying exactly what error you’re dealing with…

I had clicked on it before but didn’t see the thing about Adobe trying to install on my browser. I should have looked more closely (my eyes are getting worse so I did change my settings to make everything larger which is why I saw that). Thank You.

That was just an example, I don’t know if that’s what yours was.

At least am sharing for the future. I know sometimes we hesitate because we don’t want to accidentally give access to something, especially when not sure what’s happening. Yet at the same time often have to dig just a bit more than surface level to get the hints as to what’s going on.

Btw, you can kind of test what I was saying by doing the hamburger menu (the three lines) on the top right of your browser → More ToolsAdd new profile and just type in a random name for it. When you finish and it creates the profile, you will see the error message again if it is indeed the extension installing itself.

This time you can click there and it should show which extension or what’s going on. Just prevent it and then you can click on the profile icon thing which would be like imageManage Brave Profiles and you can delete the new one you had just made via the three dots you’ll see on it.
