Recently I had a power outage and Brave would not load. Help from this forum got me back up and running. However there are a couple of niggles. Web spotify won’t load(the PC version does). Web Spotify does load on other browsers. Brave says it won’t load because widevine is not enabled. It is though. I have checked in extensions and toggled it off and on again - but nothing has changed. Any advice? Thanks Mark
Had a similar issue before turns out toggling Widevine off and back on, then restarting Brave, did the trick for me. Hope you get it sorted soon!
Not worked for me unfortunately, still get:# Playback of protected content is not enabled.
Yes, like the guy commenting under this seaid, you need to re-launch brave entirely after using that toggle switch for protected content. Me personally I just go to brave://flags and switch the dev portal updater off or on, and press the re-launch button, that way i know I’m using the proper re-launch method.
I toggled it off and on and then shut down Brave and then relaunched it - but still having the same problem alas.

I am having the same problem and i switched to spotify premium apk app. The app works perfectly compared to the web version.
I eventually solved this by going into Brave, finding its settings for Spotify. There was a ‘cache’ file for spotify. I deleted it and everything went back to normal. Sorry not to be more accurate with my description but I hope this helps. The cache file was corrupted within the Brave browser.

It sounds like Brave isn’t recognizing Widevine properly, even though you’ve toggled it. A good first step is to go into brave://settings/extensions and double-check that Widevine is enabled, then restart Brave completely. Sometimes just relaunching the browser after toggling can help it kick in.
If that doesn’t work, try clearing cache and cookies specifically for Spotify in Brave. Old cached data can block Widevine from working correctly. You can do this by going into settings → privacy → clear browsing data → choose “cookies and cached files” for just Spotify’s site.
Lastly, make sure your Brave browser is fully up to date, since older builds sometimes have Widevine issues. If all else fails, you can try disabling “Shields” for Spotify official app, as Brave’s built-in protections can sometimes interfere. That usually fixes the web player not launching.spotify
