Guys, in what world does it make sense that if I Ctrl select another tab, and then hit the click the ‘Open tab in split view’ button from the toolbar, that Split view opens with my current Tab AND a brand new tab?
When I click the Split View button - why don’t I get an option to select a currently open tab? Why do I always get a brand new tab?
The split tab button to me is basically worthless. It needs to mimic the same behavior of Edge / Chrome. Give me a UI to select currently open tabs, and let me open two tabs in split view in two clicks without a right click.
Can you try to split tabs by pressing shift, then right-click → Add tab to split view?
I’m aware of using right click to add to split view.
What I’m saying is, it’s unintuitive for the Split Tab tool bar button to not add a tab to split view if I select an inactive tab and then click the Split tab tool barex button.
Edge and Chrome allow for this.
Also, when I left click the Split tab tool bar button both Chrome and Edge have a UI for selecting already open tabs to add to Split view.
There’s two things I would expect from this button.
Expected Functionality 1:
- Tab A is active and in view of the window
- Ctrl + left click Tab B
- Click Split view tool bar button
- Tab A and Tab B now in split view
Expected Functionality 2:
- Tab A is active and in view of the window, and I have tabs B, C, D, E.
- Left click Split view tool bar button
- Window enters split view, and UI of right hand tab in split view gives me a clickable option to select tabs B, C, D, E to add to split view.
My point of this post is it’s annoying to have to Ctrl + Click, Right click, select add tab to split view. When I should be able to just be able to swiftly in 2 cognitive steps be able to get two tabs in split view that are already open.
Yes, out of all the major browsers, Brave seems to have the most unintuitive Split View feature. Maybe consider creating a new post/editing this post to be a feature request?
