Description of the issue: Signing in to SSA.gov requires an account in login.gov. When using Brave, the attempt to login to SSA.gov gets routed to the login to login.gov. my issue is that login.gov credentials simply log me into login.gov account rather than routing back to the SSA.gov site.

Exact URL of the website in question: https://www.ssa.gov/ >> https://secure.login.gov/ >> https://secure.ssa.gov/myssa/bec-manage-ui/home

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) unsure

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? no

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): I have not found any settings that are successful.

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? Yes, when using Edge it works fine

Brave version (check About Brave): 1.85.118

Indeed:

Tips regarding Brave Shields:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP, but . . .
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN

Shields Basics

How do I configure global and site-specific Shields settings?

How do I use Shields while browsing?

Suggestion . . .

In the following steps, do NOT click the Current Private session only button.

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/content/javascript and scroll down to Allowed to use JavaScript

Click the Add button, and in the gray-ish Site field

enter exactly: [*.]ssa.gov and click the Add button.

Repeat those steps for: [*.]login.gov

Next, in the Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://settings/content/braveShields and click the Add button ← that is associated with, where you see Shields Down.

Click the Add button, and in the gray-ish Site field, enter exactly: [*.]ssa.gov and click the Add button.

Repeat those steps for: [*.]login.gov

Unable to replicate and never had the issue. It wouldn’t be related to Brave in general. It would look more to extensions you’re using, settings changed, or whatever.

Have you tried in a private window?

How about in a new secondary browser profile? (three line hamburger menu → more tools → add new profile)
