Brave cannot complete TFA on login.gov

Description of the issue: After logging in to login.gov, the login succeeds (a code is sent via SMS), but the page on which one must enter the code produces an “Aw, snap.” This occurs with shields down, with cache cleared, with cookies cleared, and even in a private window.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): Try to login to login.gov.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!): Aw, snap.

Expected result: Page to enter TFA code.

Reproduces how often: Every time

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu): macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, Brave 1.95.101

Additional Information: This is a very new phenomenon, just within the past week or two. And since this is the only way to access the IRS, the SSA, Medicare, OPM, and so on, it’s crippling. No problem in Firefox or Chrome.

ETA: BTW, this is a tough one to test, because after a few unsuccessful login atttempts, the site locks the account for ten minutes. Fair warning!

Edited to add a screenshot of the failure.

Same issue PLEASE HELP! Unable to log in via login.gov without the Aw Snap after clearing cookies/cache. Essential for VA HEALTH communication. This is serious problem

Until the issue is fixed, use Firefox or Chrome.

Login.gov is still not working with Brave - tried everything. Sept 15, 2026 - What is the problem this has been going on for over a month - Are they incapable of fixing the problem because then people in business will have to dump them.

Using another browser should not be the fix unless they don’t want our business. Fix the problem - its been going on tooooooo long.

Not fixed in v. 1.95.102. Apparently they don’t think that TFA is a thing. I’ve had problems with it in Brave on other sites, as well. Way to lose market share! I’m back to defaulting to Firefox.

Thanks for reporting @JeffTucker. We’ve identified the issue and have a fix on the way, will be released as soon as possible - https://github.com/brave/brave-core/pull/39874.

Yes, v. 1.95.104 seems to have cured this crippling behavior. Thanks for the attention!

Now, the tough choice. I switched my default back to Firefox, my longtime favorite until a couple of years ago (I always thought its image and font rendering were better than the Chromium browsers). With uBlock Origin installed, it’s fairly speedy, and the ads don’t get through. And I actually prefer the way Firefox handles autofill on usernames and passwords - Brave can be a little balky on some sites.

What to do, what to do?!

Hi @JeffTucker, the fix was released Friday afternoon, just fyi. Thank you for your patience.
