I’ve had this problem before, it went away, and is now back again. Presumably because of updates, it updated 4 hours ago and is on 1.81.137, on One UI 7 (Android 15).
I’ve tried basically any and all things mentioned by others aside from brave beta. This issue does NOT happen in chrome or Firefox for me. The last thing I’ll try will be just restarting phone, but I’m highly doubtful that will do anything as it seems specific to Brave.
This is ridiculous. Ont he fun side, now brave automatically closes windows after 90 days without asking. Hope there’s a way to opt out, but with the other changes they have done and ignored almost all users on, I am less optimistic than I should be.
I’m on this version rn for Brave and I’ve switched to a new device with Android 15 and the bug is still present (Just faced that issue this morning while watching anime) idk what’s causing this but it’s been a long time..!! A very long time still no permanent fix to the bug…..
Yeah was just coming here to reply – can anyone here in this thread please take a look at the workarounds suggested in the Github issue above and confirm whether or not they resolve the issue for you?
Suggestion - what I refer to as 'banging on the settings switches'
Exit / Quit all applications on Android device. Set some other Internet browser to be the default browser. Restart Android device. Then run Brave Browser, use only 1 tab/window, and visit only https://www.youtube.com but do not sign in.
Click the tune icon that is adjacent to the left end of the URL address field.
Then click the Cookies and site data selection in the resulting pop-down menu.
Next, in Brave Browser, go to Menu --> Settings --> Brave Shields and Privacy and scroll down to and click on the Delete browsing data selection. In the resulting Brave settings window, set Time range to All time; and then EnableBrowsing history and Cookies and site data and Cached images and files, and then click the Delete data button.
Exit / Quit all applications on Android device. Restart Android device. Then run Brave Browser and go to Settings --> Media and for the following Brave settings window (please ignore the arrow - I borrowed the image):
2nd) Enable all selections and then close the settings window(s).
3rd) Return to Settings --> Media and Disable all selections.
Exit / Quit all applications on Android device. Restart Android device. Then run Brave Browser and go to Settings --> Media and use your saved screenshot as a guide for re-establishing settings that you want Enabled.
