Problem with address bar when not visible

Description of the issue:

In Brave, the address bar always hides when you scroll down.
However, I noticed that this causes problems with sites like Vkontakte.
If I open a photo in an album, it opens in the same tab (in full screen and the address bar is not visible, as to be expected). If I want to download it, a new tab opens up, but once I close it, the address bar gets stuck (the url of the last opened photo) see vid below
You can’t open any new photos unless you refresh the page.
If I open the same or 100 other photos when the address bar is visible, then, no problems whatsoever.

How can this issue be reproduced?

Please check this short vid and notice how many times I tried re-opening the same photo.

Expected result:
As I said, the real culprit here is the hidden address bar.
I have to scroll up to un-hide the address bar every time I want to open a photo.
I noticed this problem for the first time in the latest Brave builds (April/May)

Thank you for the detailed report.
Can you please confirm for me whether or not you see this same behavior in other Chromium-based Android browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc)?

I only tested it in Lemur (without logging in, though). Address bar wasn’t visible but managed to open/close several photos in a row.

update:
tested in Brave incognito (not logged in) - no problems.
So, is the problem on VK’s end? They told me they don’t support Chromium-based browsers.

You might try simply clearing cache/site data for VK and then test again. Visit the site, hit the “tune” icon next to the URL in the address bar, then Cookies & Site data --> Trash icon to clear the site data.

Refresh the page, log back in and test again.

I tried that just yesterday and reset all permissions, but to no avail.
I’ll just swipe up when opening photos or links in VK from now on. VK told me: “The thing is that we cannot guarantee stable operation of the platform in the browser version on the phone.”
