I’m working here with Kubuntu 24.04 LTS. Sometimes printing works, sometimes it doesn’t. It seems to be independent of the settings. Because when printing doesn’t work, according to the log, no print job is sent to CUPS at all. Nothing happens. I remember having this problem many months ago. At least PDF printing still worked as a workaround.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior recently? Brave version 1.85.117 (DEB package)
Your mention that this behavior isn’t consistent reminds me: how a .pdf file behaves depends in part on how the .pdf file was created and also on how the web page was written. For example, some websites allow viewing a linked .pdf file but other websites prohibit viewing a linked .pdf file and require that the file be downloaded. I regularly / frequently experience this. I print .pdf files from the web rarely, so I’m cautious about generalizing from limited experience. This doesn’t “solve” the problem but it may help explain what’s going on.
