Next song auto-play fails after screen lock on Spotify/YouTube Music — v1.87.192, Android 15 (iQOO Neo 7 5G)

I’m experiencing an issue where the “next song” does not auto-play after the current track ends when the screen is locked.

Additional Notes

This was working in earlier 1.87.x builds but regressed in 1.87.192. Similar reports exist for Nightly/Beta versions.

###.87.x, but it’s back in 1.87.192.

Please let me know if you need logs or further testing.

I found this happened both when locking the screen or just when leaving the brave app playback would either immediately stop or stop at the end of the track. After reopening the app again it would play but wouldn’t switch tracks at all even if I manually clicked next track. Reloading the page wouldn’t fix the issue for me but force-closing and relaunching the app would.

Alternatively:

I got around this by downloading all 273 songs in my main youtube music playlist to a brave playlist which doesn’t have this issue (and has offline playback!). Might be more annoying if you have more songs than I do cause you have to do them one at a time. Track 1, playlist button, Track 2, playlist button… Then move all the tracks from Play Later into a new playlist (just name it the same as in youtube music). I don’t know if this works for Spotify but I recommend trying. I also manually transferred all 957 songs from all of my playlists on Spotify to youtube music which took almost a whole day; meanwhile downloading 273 to brave took under 30 mins so I think its totally worth the time.

Hope this helps!
