Hi!
My brave crashed and the next time I opened it all of my passwords and accounts were lost.
I was trying to get them back, and in the AppData folder there is still a file with the login datas, and also when I go into the brave settings at security there are no passwords, but when I click on view the permissions and stored data of websites there are a bunch of websites.
Please help me
Please edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, in order to include:
- Brave Browser version numbers
- Operating System version numbers
In a Brave Browser New Window, go to: brave://version
← there, you will find the version numbers. Also from that page, scroll down a little to find:
- Executable Path
- Profile Path
and report those paths, here, too. You may want to substitute “username” for your actual computer account name, in the path(s).
See:
Open issue at Github > Brave
Users being logged out of sites when closing the browser (on Windows):

How do I manually submit crash reports?
https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/22281484910221-How-do-I-manually-submit-crash-reports
After you click the “Send Now” button, return to brave://crashes
and gather up the Crash ID numbers. Post the numbers, here, in a new reply.
Hello @289wk,
Brave likely lost access to your Windows encryption key, which is needed to decrypt saved passwords in the Login Data
file. This can happen after a crash or forced restart if the Local State
file was corrupted or replaced. Without the original keychain, Brave can’t read the encrypted entries—even though the websites still appear. Sadly, unless you have a backup of the full profile folder (including Local State
), recovery isn’t possible. mygreatlakes
