Lost Brave Browser Data. HELP

Hi Brave Support Team and Community,

I recently lost my Brave browser data and am currently unable to restore it via my Sync chain. Whenever I try to enter my sync code, I receive an error stating that the code has expired. Since my original device’s data was lost, I do not have access to another active device on the chain to generate an updated code.

To assist with troubleshooting, please find the additional details below:

Description of the issue: My sync code is appearing as expired and I cannot access another device to generate a new one, preventing data recovery.
What OS are you using when you see the ad?: Win 10
Brave version (check About Brave): Brave 1.94.121 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 152.0.7977.83

Is there any way to recover my data or gain access to the Sync chain using my existing code under these circumstances? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Aymane Maarouf

Re the Brave Sync issue - according to Brave Search (Answer with AI):

The “expired” error occurs because sync codes are time-sensitive and become invalid if the source device that generated them is no longer active in the chain. Since you cannot access the original device to generate a new code, there is no way to rejoin the chain or retrieve your bookmarks, passwords, or history.

  • No Central Backup: Brave does not keep a backup of your sync data that can be restored via email or password reset.

  • Local Data Only: Your data exists only on the devices where it was synced. If those devices are inaccessible, the data is lost.

  • Future Prevention: Always keep at least one device (like a mobile phone) constantly connected to your sync chain to ensure you can always generate a fresh code if a primary device is lost.
