After browsing for some time, I closed the browser and went outside for 5+ hours.
After returning, I reopen the browser, and it looks like a “brand new” browser—all of my 120+ tabs, history, and settings are gone just like that. Then I try to recover some of the old data through Brave Sync but am unable to access that “older” synced device for an unknown reason. How do I fix this issue?
In the screenshot, same devices are synced twice, but the older one is unable to access, last one is my mobile phone but after sync I am only get access of tabs but not the previous synced desktop. My OS is Windows 11 home.
Brave Sync to me was confusing at first, then I figured it out with a little help. Sharing a link below for more information.
But in my own words, what you have to do is take the original sync chain code (which has 25 words in total), and when adding a new device use that same sync chain code MINUS THE LAST/25TH WORD and replace it with the “Word of the Day” which can be easily found here: https://alexeybarabash.github.io/25th-brave-sync-word/
So original 24 words + the current one from that link, goes into the New Device and things should be back to the way they were (hopefully).
But as the support link below ALSO says, it’s not a reliable way to back things up… and if you DID lose you current stuff to a crash I’m not sure if you’ll get it back, but BE SURE TO CHECK HISTORY if it does open new fresh with nothing.
