Description of the issue: Long 10+ second delay to complete the suggested URL and to populate previous visited pages. First screenshot shows adsb entered into the search field. After 10 to 15 seconds the search field autocompletes and the On Your Device suggestions show up as captured in the second screenshot. Note, the search suggestions in the top box near the time populate instantly as you type. This behavior happens even if a site has been previously accessed on this device even a few minutes earlier.
Expected result: At a minimum it should instantly complete the search field as you type with a matching suggestion and not have the long lag before it does so.
Meanwhile, just want to double check with you if you have relatively large amount of bookmarks/open tabs/histories. It will help us to investigate the root issue.
I closed open tabs on all my devices (Win 11 PC, MacBook, and iPhone) and see no difference. For reference, the MacBook and PC search bar populates suggestions instantly, it was only a problem with the iPhone. I have hundreds of bookmarks.
I just looked at my History brave://settings/clearBrowserData and the Advanced tab on both the MacBook (107,342 items) and PC (109,562) when Time Range : All Time is selected. I chose not to clear this data. I then looked for this info on the iPhone and couldn’t find any numbers but configured it as shown in the photo below and Cleared Data Now. This seems to have resolved the issue and the On Your Device section and search field populates instantly with suggestions.
Thanks for all the details. That really helps. According to your screenshot, after you clearing some data, the performance of searching seems acceptable. This narrows down that how we search browsing history is not optimized as desktop. We will double check the difference and address this issue soon.
