Enhanced Video Player Gesture Controls (Similar to Aloha Browser)

Feature Request:
Add intuitive gesture-based controls to Brave’s built-in video player, specifically:
∙ Left side swipe (vertical): Adjust screen brightness
∙ Right side swipe (vertical): Control volume
∙ Bottom area swipe (horizontal): Seek/scrub through video timeline
Why This Should Be Seriously Considered:

  1. User Experience Enhancement: This gesture-based control system has become a standard in modern video players (YouTube app, VLC, Aloha browser) because it allows one-handed operation without covering the video content with UI elements.
  2. Competitive Feature Gap: Browsers like Aloha have already implemented this feature successfully, and it’s one of the main reasons users choose them for video consumption. Brave could retain more users who currently switch to other browsers specifically for video watching.
  3. Privacy-First Video Experience: Brave users often watch videos directly in-browser to avoid tracking from native apps. Making this experience more convenient aligns with Brave’s mission to provide the best privacy-focused browsing experience without compromising usability.
  4. Accessibility: Touch gestures are faster and more intuitive than tapping small on-screen buttons, especially on larger iPhone screens or when using the device one-handed.
  5. Implementation Precedent: Since this feature already exists in other iOS browsers, implementation patterns and user expectations are well-established, reducing development risk.
    Expected Impact:
This would significantly improve the mobile video watching experience in Brave, making it a more complete browser for users who value both privacy and convenience.
