Bug in brave external link in brave view

I’m using a brave for about 2 years and noticed while brave been set as a brave browser and while open external links in brave (set as default browser and open links in another apps in brave view) this option was useful and apps like X handles opening link in brave view without opening brave browser. But sometimes likewise opening link in this feature, the tabs I already been like 2 to 3 weeks or a month before automatically reopens. Like discard tabs was in tabs but current tabs I was with work or using for browser has been discarded. Please note this issue… It was a case before in microsoft edge but in pwa apps that’s why I switched to brave but here issue was same and caused by different way.

Reviewing what you wrote:

  1. You apparently have been using Brave Browser for about 2 years.
  2. You have Brave set as your default browser.
  3. You use a feature where links from other apps (like X) open inside a “Brave view” (an in-app browser) instead of launching the full browser app.

That part works fine - but you suspect a weird bug:

  1. When you open links this way, something goes wrong with their tabs.
  2. Old tabs (from 2–3 weeks or even a month ago) suddenly reopen on their own.
  3. Meanwhile, the tabs that you were actively using get discarded or closed.
  4. So it feels like the browser is restoring outdated sessions and killing current ones.

You also mentioned that, this issue used to happen in Microsoft Edge, but in a different context - specifically with PWA (Progressive Web App) behavior.

You switched to Brave in order to avoid that issue, but now you are seeing a similar problem again, just caused differently.

Sometimes as keep going and using previous outdated session. Again like doing the same thing it restore the current discarded session. Not only now but I used to date back to 1 year like seeing this issue… Recently known about the community and now reporting the issue

What are the steps I can take to reproduce this issue? Also I think I’m confused a bit – the setting you’re referring to should open links in the associated app rather than in Brave, if it’s enabled.

Sorry for replying this late. Because I tried to record a video for issue I’m facing. So I hereby attach the drive link so you can better understand the issue (you can see end of video that 10 tabs from current session discarded and 7 tabs were there and it was previously closed by me before 2 days). And here link was redirected to browser unlike brave webview. It was same case sometimes with opening link like this or in brave webview like ( x app) brave webview opening link…

I believe this all is likely to do with this issue here:

While I understand that they are not the same issue (or at least not presenting the same) I think the “multiple instances” issue is why you get a different group of tabs in some cases and why that GH page continues to appear when you open links from Twitter.

Hi sir, Good morning

I have a clear screen recording for like issue that happening while opening external link. I have been this thinking issue was while opening in brave view but it isn’t it was link opened into brave browser… hereby attaching a screen recording you can see it isn’t like previous multiple instance here every time.

Note: issue wasn’t caused by brave view but external links opened into brave. Each time you can see tabs keeps rolling back on every click (old session and current session)
