I wanted to share a feature suggestion for the Downloads section in Brave Browser for Android.
On mobile, managing downloaded files should be simple, fast and convenient. I think the Downloads section could be improved with a cleaner layout and better organisation.
—
Separate Downloading and Completed Tabs
Please consider adding two separate tabs: “Downloading” and “Completed”. This would make it easier to check active downloads and access files that have already finished downloading.
—
Automatic File Categories
Downloaded files could be automatically grouped into categories such as Videos, Music, Images, Documents, APKs and Other Files. This would help users find files without scrolling through one long list.
—
A Compact Mobile-Friendly Interface
The Android Downloads screen could show more useful information in a small amount of space, including the file name, size, download date and download status. The layout should remain easy to read and convenient to use on a phone.
—
Sorting and Search
Please add options to sort downloads by newest, oldest, file size and file type. A search bar and category filters would be especially helpful for users who download files frequently.
—
Simpler File Identification
An optional display-name feature could help users identify similar downloads. For example, videos could be displayed as “Movie No. 1”, “Movie No. 2” and “Movie No. 3”, while preserving their original file names. This should be optional and should not change the actual names of files stored on the device.
—
A Simple Download Button
It would also be useful to have a clear, simple download button with the Brave logo or a familiar Brave-style design, making the download action easy to recognise and use.

I have also created a visual mockup showing how the improved Downloads interface could look on Android. It is only a design concept, but I hope it communicates the idea clearly.
I enjoy using Brave and would love to see a more organised and convenient Downloads experience on Android.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Regards,
A Brave Browser User
