Brave's spellcheck is not 'os-dependent'. fix it already

Description of the issue: Brave’s spellcheck is absolute garbage

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. type a common word incorrectly and watch this dumb browser ask if you want to add it to the dictionary.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!): words being misspelled AND added to the dictionary by accident. You people really f’d this up… you should be embarrassed.

Expected result: listing possible corrections, not just “add to dictionary”

Reproduces how often: 50% of the time (or more)

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

MacOS 15.3.2; Brave 1.93.137

Additional Information: it’s been like this for YEARS!!! Fix it already!

This forum is useless and brave only cares about money; change my mind

they don’t care. fixing things doesn’t give them more money.

they only care about brave origin now.

Spell check does not suggest … as it could, at least 1 replacement in a list … but that 1 replacement can also be found by selecting the Look Up option.

I tested the same feature, using TextEdit on the Mac. That resulted in a single suggestion. My test word: “recieeve” … the lone suggestion: “receive” ← clicked on, replaced the mis-spelled word.

Here, I am making a comment as a note to self, in effect, to remind me to bring the issue to the attention of Brave Support on Monday.

In my experience, Brave does care … but Brave also over-extends itself on projects, leaving MANY un-fixed issues languishing at its GitHub realm.
