I use an app called 4K YouTube to MP3 in order to extract the MP3 file from a YouTube video which I then copy to my phone to listen to the audio in my car.
Videos in Spanish I prefer to hear in Spanish. However, when I download the MP3, something is auto-translating them to that awful, AI-generated English. Here’s an example.
You can see the Historia de Trujillo desde la Fortaleza … title in Spanish but the downloaded MP3 has been auto-translated to History of Trujillo from … I changed the language in the YouTube to MP3 app to Spanish, but that didn’t make any difference.
I even launched Firefox, set the language to Spanish and attempted the same procedure. Same results. 
My language settings in Brave are correct for no auto-translation. Brave translate is turned off.
I have also used the same YouTube to MP3 app in Windows using the Chrome browser and get the same auto-translations.
But the strange thing is that it doesn’t always auto-translate every YouTube Spanish video. Only sometimes.
I emailed YouTube to MP3 customer support and they didn’t have an answer. Any ideas?
It’s YouTube. It’s their “auto-dub” feature and it stinks because it’s embedded and pre-rendered as an audio track. It means that video actually has alternate audio streams available to chose from, thus if the downloader of your choice is pulling in the auto-dub, you need a downloader now that lets you chose such a stream.
And no, I don’t know of one sadly.
As for the “not every video” situation, channels can chose to prevent their videos from being auto-dubbed, but not all do this.
Thank you for your quick reply, MasterLink. That solves the mystery and explains why none of my efforts made any difference. There is a Chrome/Brave extension called Tampermonkey that supposedly allows the user to download a YouTube video without the auto-dubbing. I’m not familiar with extensions, much less how to configure them. But I might get inspired to try it. Thanks again.
@relztrah in Shields, there is a filter to stop the autodubbing. Maybe try using it? Settings → Shields → Content Filtering
I’m not entirely sure it would work for the way you’re trying to download things, but at least can give it a shot.
Well, in a way it might. It’ll prevent auto-dubs from showing up in their results, that way when they go to download the audio, it should be the straight source. It might not though, but honestly that’s actually worth a try since YouTube doesn’t always make it easy to tell which one is dubbed or not (I swear they hide the “Auto Dubbed” text at times and all I hear is an AI voice not matching their lips).
Thanks for the suggestion Saoiray, but it doesn’t make any difference. I’m going to learn how to use the Tampermonkey extension and see it in fact I can somehow get the original audio from a YT video. I’ll report back the with results.
