Brave crashes frequently and displays the error message Error code: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Hi.
Brave crashes frequently and displays the error message Error code: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
I deleted the cache and all other data as well. It doesn’t help; on some pages it crashes very often, which is very annoying because you then have to reload the page and everything you’ve done disappears and you have to start all over again. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be because I have too many tabs open?

See you Rolf

@boro2 thanks for reporting. Can you confirm your OS and Brave version? Can you share your Crash ID’s which can be found at Brave://crashes.

Thank you!

Having the same issue dozens of times a day. Sometimes Brave crashes completely. This has been going on for a few weeks now.

Some crash IDs from the past 2 days:

Windows 11 and Brave 1.77.101

I had the same problem for months. it affected all my Chromium-based browsers, and sometimes even caused games to crash. Even resetting my laptop to factory mode didn’t help anything at all.

After some trial and error, I figured out the cause: Core 5 of my CPU wasn’t working properly.

To test this, I went into the BIOS settings and started lowering the number of CPU cores being used. My CPU normally uses 5 cores, so I began by reducing that number one at a time.

To test it, I went into my BIOS and reduced the number of CPU cores. My CPU usually runs on 5, so I started lowering it one by one. After each change, I rebooted and checked if the issue still occurred like watching YouTube or using apps that would usually trigger the problem.

Eventually, I found that everything worked fine on 4 cores but once I enabled the 5th core again, the issues returned. That confirmed Core 5 was the culprit

The fix? I probably have to sent my laptop back to get it repaired or something.

I’ve also been getting this issue as of today. I’ve tried Private Window and creating a new Profile and still ocurring every now and then. I’ve uploaded the following:
