Brave Browser Tablet Landscape issue

This appears to be a missing feature. I am on a Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus/ Android Tablet. Running Android 17. When I am in Tablet mode and launch the Brave app. The browser window shows up in portrait mode. Leaving about two inches on the left and right of the browser blank. I can provide a screen shot. The one caveat is that I am able to run the tablet in Desktop mode because it comes with a keyboard. When I run brave app. It runs in a windowed mode. I am able to maximize and the browser takes up the whole screen. I have seen multiple posting about this with little reply. I am not sure if this is bug or a missing feature. Thanks for your time. I love your Browser works great otherwise.

Hello! I have what seems like the same issue with yoga tab plus. When in landscape mode, Brave display tabs in portrait mode. When entering settings Brave goes full screen. Both Chrome and Firefox works fine.

This is exactly what happens to me. Other browsers work fine. Chrome, firefox and even Samsung browser.

I have the same issue and I cant figure it out. In the webpage settings I could set to use desktop site everywhere, and it worked full screen in landscape mode. Now my screen looks like the screenshot above. But now it works again somehow…

I just had to complain. But it happened before, so usually this problem comes back

Opening an issue for this. If anyone can provide a screenshot of the way Brave displays on their Android tablet (I do not have one on me to test/use) or a short screen recording that I can ad to the video it would be very helpful.

Can anyone check and confirm if Lenovo tablets have the option to disable app specific rotation?

I am looking around. But I think it only has a global rotation. Where would it be on another Android tablet?

I have looked and looked. I have only found this. Brave is not on the list. The other option is to just turn auto rotation on and off.

Thank for checking. Strange that it doesn’t appear in the list. Passing this information onto the devs – will reply back when I know more.

Has any headway been made on resolving the issue?

Not really – this appears to be due to the fact that there is no specific form factor for just foldable devices implemented in the Chromium engine. Most of them fall under Phone or Tablet, rather than having their own category. Still looking into the issue.

Any updates on the issue? Just stumbled on the same thing with Lenovo tab. When I launched Brave for the first time, Lenovo said, that this app does not support landscape mode natively.

Just came here to mention, after seeing the issue on my tablet too today (Lenovo idea tab pro) I installed the current brave beta and the bug is gone.

Brave - Beta 1.86.128, Chromium 143.0.7499.169

Gonna assume you meant Android 16, as 17 doesn’t exist.

Hoping the Chromium team understands there’s now 3 profiles to account for, not just Phone or Tablet, since Foldable’s are kinda their own profile. But I understand the delay, getting fixes upstream to Chromium isn’t always easy nor quick as much as we want it to be.

That is correct. Sorry for the miscommunication.

@tomzuu can you confirm whether or not you see the same when using the Beta on your device? Would be good to know if the issue is fixed in future Chromium versions (that way we will get the fix “for free” rather than our devs having to break off and spend time fixing it).

Hey, just tried Brave Beta. It works fine in full screen! @Mattches

Having the exact same problem on my Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus. Hoping the patch will soon be released on the normal app release.
