Description of the issue:
August 31, 2025, Sunday - Sometime earlier today before 4:20 PM EDT USA, Brave Browser (MacOS) desktop stable release v1.81.136 - v1.81.137:
Somehow installed Brave Browser Beta
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
The magic and continuing mystery of Brave Browser?
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Little Snitch screenshot (time: Screenshot 2025-08-31 at 16.20.28):
Expected result:
Reproduces how often:
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
MacOS 14.7.7
MacBook Pro - 2020 Intel, 13-inch
Additional Information:
After that surprise, I completely removed everything about Brave Browser - the app, the .plist settings file, cache, everything.
And, I am now using Firefox.
PS. Before I went to sleep around 7:00 AM, was the last time that Brave Browser was running OK. And that was followed by some time after 4:00 PM (me, awake), I started up Brave Browser ← I could see in a network monitor, that there was “the usual” short time frame of some updating probably occuring for Brave Browser?
And then sometime before 4:20 PM, Little Snitch started prompting for online Brave sources to be OK’d ← that I had already allowed ON PREVIOUS OCCASIONS for Brave Browser and for Brave Browser Helper . . . and then, around 4:19(?) PM or so, I started up the Little Snitch app, to see what was happening?
There, and thusly, the above screenshot.

Been looking for clues in the MacOS basement and attic, but nothing found in logs, nothing found in /private/var/folders/… nor /var/db/…
