Brave Android – YouTube Background Playback Stops After Speech-to-Text or Locking Screen

Has anyone else been having issues with YouTube background playback on Brave for Android? Lately, whenever I use speech-to-text, YouTube will pause like normal, but once I’m done, it’ll start playing again for a few seconds and then stop completely. I have to go back into the YouTube tab to get it playing again.

I’ve also noticed it sometimes does the same thing when I turn my screen off. I never had this issue before, and it seems like it’s gotten worse with recent updates. Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix?

Type brave://adblock to the search bar. Press Create custom filters, add these:

<youtube.com##+js(brave-disable-pageview-api)>

<youtube.com##+js(brave-video-bg-play)>

(Ignore the angle brackets, i put them there so it doesnt become a link to youtube)

I did exactly what you said and unfortunately it didn’t work. I’m hoping that this is just something that they can fix with an update because I’ve never had this issue before. I wonder if there are others that are having the same problem

Yeah nevermind, doesnt work for me either. Now i just keep my brightness to the lowest
