Description of the issue: When I open a video on YouTube, it doesn’t play; the screen stays black, and the playback/duration indicator stays at 00:00/00:00, flashing as if it were constantly reloading. To get it to play, I have to let it load for quite a while or try reloading the page several times.

Exact URL of the website in question: www.youtube.com/watch?v={videoId}

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no) Yes

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off? No

Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration. (yes/no): No

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome? Yes

Brave version (check About Brave): v1.95.104

i have the same issue, same thing default shield setting, doesnt seem to work much better without shield

I have the same issue & have had it since the last 2 or 3 Brave updates. YouTube probably, once again, changed the underlying code or updated the YouTube player/page.

I still use uBlock Origin & I know this is partly why some videos don’t play or load correctly (e.g., 0:00/0:00, black screen, partially loaded pages, or extremely slow-loading pages).

However, even disabling uBlock Origin & only using the built-in Brave Shields also causes some of the same issues.

Currently, I’m running Brave 1.97.56 (Official Build) (64-bit), Chromium: 155.0.8059.40.

Whatever Google/YouTube has done “under the hood” seems to have really borked the way the Brave browser loads/interacts with YouTube.
