YouTube Videos Not Playing on Brave – Playback ID Error

I am getting this YouTube error on Brave Browser:

“An error occurred. Please try again later. (Playback ID: h7U_N5DIFLPlq1nX)”

I already tried many fixes from brave community, YouTube and Reddit but nothing worked. Videos are not playing properly only on Brave. Is anyone else facing the same issue or knows a fix?

I tried it, but it didn’t work.

I think this is related to Brave’s update. My laptop’s Brave browser hasn’t updated yet, and I can watch videos there just fine. I also tried watching from another account that’s logged on and it also worked properly for me.

Edit:
I tried doing what another post suggested, which was to turn off the shield. I will NOT be doing this, as the reason I use Brave is to get no ads at all! I hope this gets fixed soon.

Yeah, could be update issue. I also won’t turn off Shields, so just waiting for fix.

I’ve been having that playback error happen to me, And I’m in Private Browsing and not logged in on YouTube. I’m so tired of Google. And I’m now also tired of Twitch. I’m so sick of the stunts these Monopoly Companies try to pull.

@astara09 @reinf same… this is another issue for me on using Brave (the other one is WhatsApp’s issue while it’s very hard to login or it keeps reloads by itself after a while (this is also the same issue with YouTube) !

This is a widespread issue — YouTube’s latest player script update is conflicting with Brave Shields.

Quick fixes:

Desktop: brave://settings/clearBrowserData → Advanced → Cached images & files (All time) → Clear

Mobile: Settings → Brave Shields & Privacy → Clear browsing data → Cached images → Clear

Hard refresh: Ctrl+F5 (mobile: pull down to refresh)

Still broken? Open in a Private Window

If none of these work, report it at github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues so the team can track it officially.

Yeah, I totally get you. The WhatsApp issue seems to be fixed already, and the YouTube one will probably be solved soon too. So no worries — Brave is still on our side haha :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The WhatsApp issue seems to be fixed already

nah, bruh…

i opened this tab for like around 2 - 3 hours (while i’m doin another stuffs at another tab) and this thing keeps loads 100 billion times slower than Spongebob’s snail, Gary

seriously, bruhh ??

but all my websites’ credentials will be deleted, then..!

is there any other way, bruh..?

Okay youtube is working for me today, which I hope will continue. I wonder if Brave was able to get fixes in?

I think the WhatsApp issue is only happening on your end, bro. Everyone else seems to be using it normally, and it’s also working fine on my side.

@Chipp — don’t worry, clearing cached images and files does NOT delete your passwords or login credentials.

Passwords are stored separately under Saved Passwords and are not affected.

Only select “Cached images and files” — not “Passwords” or “Autofill data”.

Whats worked for me is simply disabling Brave Shields for YouTube, and then using Braves hosted UBlock Origin extension found by going to → brave://settings/extensions/v2 and enabling the Ublock Origin Manifest V2 extension.

This has solved all playback problems and doesn’t require the use of a private window.

@W0ckySlush — thanks for sharing. Worth noting that disabling Shields for YouTube removes Brave’s ad and tracker blocking on that site. If that trade-off is acceptable to you, the uBlock Origin MV2 approach is a valid workaround until Brave pushes a filter update to resolve this natively.”

sflr !

hmm… idk why it happened that way on my side, tho

probably the caches need to be cleared

sflr, bro

lol ok

my bad to mixed up between caches and cookies

thx and will try it, bruh !
