YouTube video stuck at loading on Brave, keeps getting blocked by new anti-adblock

I’ve encountered a recurring issue while watching YouTube videos on Brave. Every time I try to play a video (including unlisted, private, or normal ones), the player gets stuck at the loading screen, with a black screen and endless spinning circle. Sometimes, after a short fix/update from Brave, the problem suddenly returns a few hours later, and I get a message from YouTube asking me to disable my ad blocker to continue watching.

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?

Does the ad appear when using a Private window as well? (yes/no)

What OS are you using when you see the ad?

Please check to see if it works in a Private Window. If it works in a Private Window, please try the following in your regular browsing profile.

  • Disabling any related third party extensions (brave://extensions/)

  • Clearing cookies/browsing history (brave://settings/clearBrowserData)

    • Updating adblock filters (brave://settings/shields/filters)
