Youtube still very slow and laggy on Brave

Is anyone else still experiencing YouTube being super slow and laggy when using Brave?

Videos take a long time to start, buffering is constant, and sometimes the whole page freezes for a few seconds — especially when switching resolutions or skipping ahead.

I’ve already tried pretty much everything i’ve seen people list as possible solution

Hardware acceleration is activated.

Posts here in the community about this issue are very old, for years people are complaining about it. No fix so far???

It works fine on other browsers like Chrome or Edge, so it seems to be specific to Brave.

Anyone else having this issue? Any tips or fixes would be appreciated!

Edit:

I’ve turned off Hardware acceleration, that worked like a charm.

I had the same issues and it was resolved by disabling “Ambient mode” on YT. You’ll find the toggle in Settings (same place you changed vid resolution).

Thanks for the input, but that wasn’t the solution for me.

Note, turning off Hardware acceleration will cause perf issues, since the cpu will work much harder

I don’t know if this is a bug specific to my PC or operating system, but the fact is that disabling hardware acceleration in Brave was the only thing that solved the lag and performance issues in the browser when using YouTube.

Regarding the increased load on the processor, I haven’t noticed any problems in that sense. I’m using CPU-Z to monitor it, and everything is normal.

+1 for this. I’m still getting an unacceptably large number of dropped frames (probably about 30%) but somehow the ambient mode has caused so much performance problems.
