I am experiencing video lagging issues while playing YouTube videos on the Brave browser. Please advise on how to resolve this.

No, HW acceleration isn’t enabled; it makes the videos unwatchable when it’s enabled!
And yes, the same issue happens when I open videos in private window mode.
I’ve noticed this as well. Started about a week or so ago, maybe (September 15th-ish).
I’m using a MacBook Pro when I encounter this issue (Brave and Youtube run fine on my PC).
My MacBook is a 2023 M2 model, 8GB RAM, Sequoia 16.6.1 MacOS.
It primarily seems to be Youtube, which runs smoothly in other browsers (Safari, Vivaldi). Sites like Twitch also seem to function fine in Brave, it’s just Youtube that’s giving me this weird sluggish video, as though the videos are laggy or playing at a lower refresh rate, despite the audio playing normally.
How is it unwatchable? its lagging because the CPU is doing all the work. (and not the GPU)

This is how HW Acceleration works, it’ll off load all the video decode etc to the gpu. Disabling acceleration will put all the work on the CPU, which will cause:
- More stutters
- Excessive CPU usage
- And just general sluggishness
Only need to disable HW/GPU acceleration if you’re using an ancient gpu or buggy/old gpu drivers.
Which GPU are you using?
If you disable your ad blocker you will be able to see the youtube page but will be block from logging into your account. I wonder if this could be a termination of user agreement due to using brave ad blocker.. If you use any other website it won’t work. seem like there blocking ip address . Is there anyway for brave to fix this ?
