YouTube has issues when using Brave Shields

Description of the issue:When I tried to watch a video, the page suddenly seemed to crash and froze—loading stopped completely, and a notification appeared asking whether to close the page or wait. Reloading had no effect, and even after closing and reopening the YouTube window, it wouldn’t load properly; I had to try twice before it finally opened. This bug occurred when I searched for a video and clicked on it.

There is one more issue: when the website crashes and fails to load, I notice the RAM usage climbs to over 7GB and keeps increasing—I have no idea why that happens.

i dunno what caused that proberly caused by
probably Brave Shields ad/tracker blocking conflicting with yts player script during the searchto click navigation, which causes script freeze (not getting killed cleanly) and thus the RAM hogging. It is fixed when Shields are off. Try changing to Standard mode (not Aggressive) or disable the “Block scripts” for youtube.com to see if it’s the case.

I am also getting an issue with YT on Brave, and it’s the return of the error occurred message every few videos I watch. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE MAY, and the devs have lied to everyone about fixing this error message. I am actually so annoyed to the point of willing to switch off from Brave unless this issue gets fixed!!!

In case any mods see this, I have the same issue where the video just freeze and after some time passed the browser will show “Error Code: Out of memory”.

  1. Tested with new profile. So no extension

  2. Tested with hardware accelaration.

  3. Brave is up to date

    Brave 1.93.136 (Official Build) (64-bit)

What i notice :

  1. this happen on music video only. Other type of video not related with music had no issue. Streaming type had no issue too.
  2. RAM spike when open the music video. from 300MB++ To 1GB
  3. YouTube Music doesnt have this issue
  4. Disabling Brave Shield solved the issue
  5. I saw someone saying it was youtube issue where it constantly loop the Menu thing like description, artist etc for music video. If add this to filter list “www(.)youtube(.)com###menu” can solve it sometimes but not 100%

I believe this was some clue and i suspect it was youtube script trying to anti ads block with this method. Please add some filter or script to block this yee yee thing

For yt use u block origin lite on full mode and for other website brave is fine . Bc yt really targets brave shield codes (maybe bc its open source anyone can see ) and also industry grade browser with ad blocking . for ublock i donno why but it works fine .

ublock lite doesn’t work for me on the music video. BUT the new version brave solved it!
