Description of the issue: When watching YouTube videos on Brave (desktop, Windows), videos take too long to load and often freeze. Initially, the video starts playing, but after 2–3 minutes it pauses, shows the loading circle, and takes too much time to buffer. Even after buffering 1–2 minutes of content, it freezes again. This issue does not occur on Chrome.
How can this issue be reproduced?
-
Open YouTube in Brave Browser (Windows desktop).
-
Play any video.
-
Wait for 2–3 minutes — the video freezes and loading circle appears (that grey circle on yt).
Expected result: YouTube videos should play smoothly without repeated buffering, just like on Chrome but no ads.
Brave Version( check About Brave): Brave 1.82.172 (Official Build) (64-bit) Chromium: 140.0.7339.207
Additional Information: Long time Brave user, issue only started happening recently.
- No ads are shown, but video playback is still delayed.
- Internet connection is stable.
- Works fine on Chrome (no buffering).
- I guess it likely related to Brave’s ad-blocking interfering with YouTube loading.
