Windows PDF Icon

Please can someone help how can i change the icon for pdf to the icon with blank sheet and the lion in the centre its very annoying for me and i tried everything but still the icon is same as the browser icon

It appears the executable lacks an icon for that, that is any other size other than 32x32, therefore Windows won’t use it (unless it has also 16x16, and larger for other views, or it’d look pixelated).

Also found that apparently stable ships with both nightly and developer icon resources as well for some reason.

So how can I bring them back to original state the blank sheet with lion?

Ok i found the solution you need to go to the win + r type regedit go to \HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\BravePDF\DefaultIcon and change the default to the
“C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application/brave.exe”,10

Not recommended to do, but it will work since that is how you tell Windows which icon for a file type to use. But remember there’s only a 32x32 asset in the executable, so it’s going to be an ugly pixelated icon at any size OTHER than 32x32, especially defaults of 48x48 and higher these days.

It would be nice if Brave could design those higher resolution assets, as in that case your fix wouldn’t need to be adjusted, if the new executable has the newer sizes, Windows will just use it on next Explorer reload (either signing out and back in, rebooting, or Explorer just refreshing the icon cache on its own).
