Description:
Currently, when Brave is set as the default PDF viewer on Windows/macOS, the icon used for PDF files is identical to the Brave browser application icon.
The Issue:
This causes significant visual confusion. Many times, I find myself accidentally clicking on a PDF document when I actually intended to launch the browser, or vice-versa. Because they look exactly the same in the taskbar, desktop, or file explorer, it slows down the workflow and leads to a frustrating user experience.
Proposed Solution:
I suggest creating a dedicated icon for PDF files associated with Brave. This icon should still maintain Brave’s branding (the lion logo) but should include a clear “PDF” label or a slightly different design/color scheme (e.g., adding a red “PDF” corner or a document-style background).
Why it should be considered:
- Improved Usability: Users can instantly distinguish between an application and a document.
- Standard Practice: Most other browsers (like Chrome, Edge, and Firefox) have distinct icons for their PDF file associations.
- Reduced Errors: It prevents accidental clicks and improves daily productivity for users who handle many PDF files.
