Windows 10 Action Center Alerts from Gmail do not work

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Alerts appear to be turned on when that request is made.
There are never any new email alters forthcoming

Expected result:
New emails in Gmail trigger an alter in Windows 10 Action Center

Reproduces how often:
Every time
