Website data not clearing. shields data not clearing

Description: several data caches are sticking around after exhausting every avenue of clearing. shredding, manually removing, closing app after, restarting device etc. the only thing that works is deleting and reinstalling the app and, let’s be honest, i’m not going to continue to do that.

Expected result: data caches actually cleared upon demand.

Brave Version: 1.89 (144)

Mobile Device details: iOS 26.5

Additional Information: shields count will not clear either.

  1. Disable Private Browsing Only mode
  2. Disable Brave Sync
  3. Clear what you want at: Brave Browser Settings > Shields & Privacy > CLEAR PRIVATE DATA ← I clear EVERYTHING
  4. There, CLICK → Clear Data Now ← TWICE
  5. Clear everything at Brave Browser Settings > Shields & Privacy > Manage Website Data
  6. Exit / Quit everything on the iPhone
  7. Full Power OFF and Shut Down
  8. Pause 30 seconds
  9. Start iPhone
  10. Repeat steps 3 thru 9

In a nutshell, you have to adjust things and clear things, TWICE, while NOT using Private Browsing Mode. In addition to, providing that 30 second pause.

Don’t know the why of it; but the steps have worked for my iPhone 14 iOS 18.7.8

PS. Take a look at: Brave Browser Settings > Shields & Privacy > Shred ← I have mine set to:

  • Auto Shred > Never
  • Shred Removes History > Enabled

I am having identical problem without using Private Mode on iPhone. Have repeatedly cleared cache using Manage Site Data and turned off the phone. Only thing that works is deleting browser and reinstalling Brave which I’ve done 3x today. For years I have manually cleared data many times a day, this issue of data remaining in the cache began yesterday.

Thanks, but I don’t use private browsing, nor do I sync with another device.
Followed the other steps multiple times (before posting my issue) and there is always something left in the cache.

Second this. I do not use private browsing nor sync. Ive tried waiting the 30 seconds, but it doesn’t seem to clear. Occasionally, I’ve had luck by ENABLING private browsing, clearing data, switching private browsing off, and restarting, or some combination of this.
