Way too many captchas after every single search after updating to Brave 1.88.136 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Same issue I spent 7 hours to fix it. Please fix it soon

Can anyone here encountering this issue please clarify for me whether or not this occurs:

  • When using a standard browsing window (or if it only happens with Private browsing)
  • What specific search engine(s) you’re using when you see this?
  • If this occurs when a VPN is enabled (some of you have already stated no VPN but I’d still like to confirm)
  • If you have any other ad-blocking/privacy extensions running in the browser
  • If you have any 3rd party anti-virus software running when you see this issue (outside of Windows Defender)
  1. Both
  2. I only use google
  3. No VPN
  4. Nothing only Brave Sheilds
  5. No third party antivirus

I updated my browser to latest version

Brave 1.88.138 (Official Build) (64-bit) still getting the captchas

Then i uninstalled it and reinstalled after 4-5 searches i got the same issue again.

  1. Standard Brave browser (don’t use PB)
  2. Google (but I don’t get a CAPTCHA for Google when using FireFox, Chrome, Edge)
  3. Occurs when VPN is either enabled/disabled (McAfee VPN)
  4. UBlockOrigin
  5. Malwarebytes, McAfee suite etc (in addition to Windows Defender)

This CAPCHA nonsense started about a fortnight ago. I’ve been running all the above for years without an issue so why the sudden change?

My only thought is perhaps it has something to do with changes made by Google in response to the new internet age restrictions (for children under 16) imposed by the Australian government late last year?

Example:

Google’s Unified Login Eco-System is very picky about “YOUR ID” (metadata-whatever, hardware, software - “your papers”), and Google compares every new presentation by “you” … with, what Google stores (“their file on ‘you’”).

My approach to the problem - is a testing phase, where I allow the necessary:

  • [*.]accounts.google.com
  • [*.]google.com ← that alone, worked for me, but your mileage may vary
  • [*.]gstatic.com
  • [*.]mail.google.com
  • [*.]recaptcha.net
  • [*.]workspace.google.com
  • [*.]www.google.com
  • [*.]www.youtube.com

… domain names and hostnames, in Brave settings, using Brave Browser New Windows:

  • brave://settings/content/javascript
  • brave://settings/cookies
  • brave://settings/content/braveShields

… in attempting to reduce Google’s nervousness. I try to find the minimum set of Brave Browser settings, that will complete a Unified Login Eco-System “Gate House, Guard Shack” PASS.

One way to monitor the Google Eco-System (I am not a regular Google user):

I haven’t look through the entire thread, but does disabling fingerprinting in shields help? (may need to re-login). Just wondering if its a specific fingerprinting option causing issue.
